A couple of days ago we brought you our obscure tips for the season, today we're looking at bet that's a little more mainstream but a lot harder to predict; the three clubs who will get relegated.
The favourites in the relegation combination tricast at the moment are the three new clubs to the league: Cardiff City, Hull City and Crystal Palace. However we're going for something a little different.
Cardiff City, Crystal Palace and Stoke City 28/1
It may come as a bit of a surprise but I fancy Hull Tigers to stay up. I thought this even before they signed Tom Huddlestone and Jake Livermore this week. So in an additional bonus, the two ex-Spurs lads should bring a lot to the side – especially Huddlestone with his Darron Gibsonesque love of shooting from everywhere on the pitch.
They've added a lot of Premier League experience to the squad over the summer and already we'd tipped to them at 11/8 to finish ahead of Cardiff and Crystal Palace. While this is a safer bet, we're going to out on a limb and predict that Stoke will be the third team to go down.
Stoke are one of those typical nothing teams in the league. They stay up for a few years, hit the glass ceiling below the top seven teams and just fester in mid-table before an eventual decline. It's happened to the likes of Charlton Athletic, Bolton Wanderers, Blackburn Rovers and many others. Last year Stoke showed early signs of decline. Their defence papered over the cracks up until Christmas but when they started leaking goals it lead to them almost dropping down.
Mark Hughes has come in during the summer but I just feel they don't have a enough in the tank to push on to anything noteworthy.
