Bohemian FC have announced this morning that current Waterford FC assistant manager Alan Reynolds will take over at Dalymount Park. The current Republic of Ireland U21s assistant will take over from Declan Devine, who left via mutual consent after four games into the new League of Ireland season where Bohs only had one win.

Bohemians picked up one win in Devine's absence against Derry City but still sit at mid table in sixth. Speaking on the club's website Reynolds said "This is a massive club with a passionate fan base. It’s a massive challenge but it is the right one for me and at the right time, and I can’t wait to get cracking. Straight away when contact was made, I was very interested. Over the past few years, I’ve had different opportunities to get back into management but this is the one that feels right."

Alan Reynolds has vast experience in the League of Ireland both as a player and a coach. The 49-year-old played over 200 games for his hometown Waterford FC and managed the club from 2017-2020, between stints as assistant at Cork City and Dundalk.

The search for a new managers at Bohs wasn't long but it did conjure up some interesting potential names including the former Republic of Ireland manager Stephen Kenny.

Kenny left his Ireland post in November after his contract wasn't renewed and he's been out of football since. It was reported that Bohemians had held talks with Kenny but soon after Kenny was said to be not interested in taking up a new role.

Alan Reynolds first game in charge of Bohemians will be a tough challenge as they travel to Tallaght Stadium to take on Rovers in the first meeting between the rivals this season. Rovers have had a disappointing start to their season as well so it will be interesting to see if Reynold's presence gives Bohs a new manager bounce against the hoops.
