As Dundalk are trying week by week to close the gap on Cork City at the top of the Airtricity League table, on Thursday evening they confirmed the acquisition of a player who could prove to be a big help going forward.
Bray Wanderers speedster Dylan Connolly is widely recognised as one of the most talented players outside of either Dundalk or Cork City, and Bray Wanderers confirmed in a statement on Thursday night that they had accepted an offer from the Lillywhites for his services.
Bray Wanderers FC wish to announce that an offer has been made by Dundalk FC to have Dylan Connolly released by the Club.
Having considered it within the Club, Dylan was consulted and he expressed that he would be keen to go to Dundalk FC. In those circumstances we have agreed to the terms outlined by Dundalk FC.
We wish to further state that Dundalk FC have been professional in this engagement and that needs to be put on record. Finally, we thank Dylan for his time at Bray Wanderers FC and the contributions he has made. We wish him every success in his future career.

Connolly has five goals so far this season and has been outstanding for the Seagulls as their form drastically improved from last season, with the club currently sitting in third place behind Dundalk.
While the statement above is worded a tad unusually, it seems very much like the prospect of playing European football saw Connolly inform the club he wished to go with speculation building over the past few weeks.
A loss for Bray, but a cracking signing for Dundalk.
