Celtic beat Alloa 2-0 in the League Cup quarter-final on Wednesday night - they will face Rangers in the semi-final.

It took two late goals for Celtic to beat the League One club. The main talking point following the game was goalkeeper Craig Gordon's challenge on Alloa's Greig Spence in the first half.

Gordon was very lucky to get away with just a yellow card.

Coverage of the challenge on BT Sport along with that of a tackle of by Erik Sviatchenko in Celtic's 2-2 draw with Inverness at the weekend has irked Brendan Rodgers. Celtic and Inverness were level at 1-1 when Sviatchenko put in a tackle which Inverness manager Richie Foran felt was worthy of a red card. He received no punishment for the challenge.

Rodgers compared the coverage to that of a tackle by Rangers' Harry Forrester in a 5-0 win against Queen of the South on Tuesday which he says was only replayed twice.

Rodgers said the Gordon challenge was replayed 14 times by BT Sport.

What doesn’t help is afterwards when the video footage is shown 14 times. We played at Inverness and Sviatchenko’s tackle was shown 26 times.

I saw similar games with similar profile over the course of the last week, where a player arguably should have been sent off, and the video was shown twice.

It would be interesting to hear from BT Sport just to see why there is that difference.

I know modern day football is about sensationalism and Celtic is a huge club with massive interest in it.

But Craig’s incident is just a mis-timed tackle. He’s not reckless, he’s over-stretched. The kid takes a bang, goes down, gets up and gets on with the game. I don’t think it was a sending-off.
