The Only Thing Better Than Aleksandar Kolarov's Free Kick Was Brian Kerr's Commentary

On Saturday, one Twitter user - claiming he spoke on behalf of the nation - sent a message RTÉ's way. 'Get rid of Brian Kerr, he's annoying me' was the jist of the tweet.

RTÉ - and much of the nation - replied to disagree. If you're going to watch Peru vs Denmark on a sunny afternoon, Kerr is a bit of gravy on an otherwise humdrum meal.

The former Ireland manager again showed how much he can add to a game during Serbia's win against Costa Rica on Sunday afternoon.

Aleksandar Kolarov's free kick just over 11 minutes into the second half would the difference between the teams. Kerr's commentary for the moment - especially the description of the strike as "Deadeye Dick" - was a joy.

Look at the joy on his face at 32 years of age. That's his 11th international goal. I said it before the match, you have two fullbacks with 23 international goals between them.

What a goal this is. Look at the distance out: it's probably 26, 27 yards. Deadeye Dick right into the corner. It almost scraped a bit of paint off the post on its way in.

RTÉ did tweet the goal with Kerr's full commentary but later deleted it and uploaded a version without Kerr's 'Deadeye Dick' reference.

Who the hell was offended by it? Probably the same idiots who think Kerr is anything but a national treasure.
