However, many were left wondering why the Juventus and Napoli players have a red mark on their face. As the teams emerged players on both sides sported a red mark on their cheek, a move that has been seen across the Seria A this weekend.
The mark is lipstick and a part of a campaign to raise awareness about violence against women. Napoli captain Marek Hamsik took to Instagram before the game to support the 'give violence against women the red card' (#unrossoallaviolenza) initiative. The event was organised by the Lega Serie A as well as the players' association. Those involved are hoping the red mark will raise awareness online.
