Bruce Grobbelaar has surprised everyone by appearing in the media and not absolutely slating Simon Mignolet this week, as he was a guest on 'The Fantasy Football Club' on Sky Sports 1.

Rather than point out the flaws in Liverpool's Belgian goalkeeper like he's so fond of doing, Grobbelaar was instead reminiscing on the glory days and was asked to pick his teammates XI, which turned into an interesting blend of Liverpool legends and Zimbabwean internationals.

One such Liverpool legend was also an Irish footballing hero as Ronnie Whelan earned a spot alongside Graeme Souness in the middle, and in between fawning over Ronnie's ability on the pitch, Grobbelaar told a story of how he made Whelan's dreams come true thanks to a breakdown in communication:

We'll forgive Bruce for spelling 'Whelan' wrong.

A boyhood United fan, Whelan always wanted to score at the Stretford End, and thanks to a mixup with Bruce Grobbelaar, he did just that.
