"They Were A Disgrace" - Luton Town Player Booked After Breaking His Leg - Then Abused By Rival Fans

Luton Town's Cameron McGeehan endured a rotten afternoon yesterday. Early on in Luton's 1-0 loss at Portsmouth, McGeehan went into a tackle with Irish veteran Michael Doyle. He came off worst.

He hit the ground, howling in agony. It was confirmed later on that he had broken his leg. In his pain, he punched the turf in frustration.

However, it would appear that McGeehan breached the protocols on how to react when you've just broken your leg. Referee Tim Robinson was unimpressed by his wanton assault on the Fratton Park surface and issued a yellow card.

Obviously, we must point out in Robinson's defence that he surely didn't know that McGeehan had broken his leg. Even so, it seems like a grotesquely obtuse decision to flash a yellow card.

That wasn't the end to the indignity. According to the BBC, the home crowd displayed their empathy for the stricken midfielder by chanting "you're going home in an ambulance."

Luton manager Nathan Jones was highly critical of the Portsmouth supporters and also said that the referee had shown a "lack of understanding."

The only thing I will mention is the absolute lack of class shown by the Portsmouth fans. He's a young kid, he's a talented kid, that works hard, that grafts. I thought they were disgraceful. They were booing him off and they were jeering. It's an absolute disgrace. Anyone gets carried off in a stretcher, you know something is wrong. I don't care who you are, you show an element of class. Our fans wouldn't do that.

And if this goes out live or is printed on the BBC, then quote this, They lack absolute class and they showed what type of fans they are.
