That didn't take long.
Cardiff City have tied manager Mick McCarthy down to a new contract, with the former Ireland boss now set to remain at the club until the summer of 2023.
The 62-year old was originally drafted in in January on a deal until the end of the season, with Cardiff in the midst of a relegation battle.
Since then they have gone on an incredible run, winning seven and drawing three of his ten games in charge. It has also seem them climb from the pits of the Championship to two points outside the play-off spots.
It is certainly quite the turnaround in fortunes for Cardiff City, and indeed McCarthy himself.
He was sacked by Cypriot club APOEL Nicosia after only eight games in charge at the start of the year and it looked uncertain as to where his next job would come from. He is now launching an assault on Premier League football, with he and assistant Terry Connor being rewarded for their immediate impact with new contracts.
Speaking after the news of the contracts were confirmed, McCarthy said:
TC and I have enjoyed every minute of the time we've had at this great club so far and we're delighted to be staying. I'd like to thank Vincent for offering us the opportunity to do that.
The players have responded to us over these past 10 games in the manner we hoped they would, and it's a pleasure working with them each day in training.
Credit to them for the efforts they've put in so far and the results they've earned. They're enjoying it and deservedly so. I'm very much looking forward to the future.
