Watch: Carragher Exasperated With Redknapp In Debate Over Liverpool's Defence

It has taken but ninety minutes for Liverpool to remind their fans of the halcyon days of the summer, when there were no opposition set pieces to ruin their afternoons. They fell behind to a corner, fell behind again a few minutes after Sadio Mané's equaliser, and then went 3-2 in front, only to blow the win by conceding a goal...from a corner.

At half-time, Jamie Carragher went off on one at Liverpool's defensive failings, claiming that the possible arrival of Virgil Van Dijk won't make a difference for Liverpool, as zonal marking on corners along with the leaving of centre backs so exposed in open play leaves them very vulnerable in front of goal.

Roberto Firmino, for example, was left as the only man to block the run of Okaka on the first goal, which he unsurprisingly failed to do:

Carragher continued on this topic at full-time, and found stubborn resistance to his point in the guise of Jamie 'Literally' Redknapp. Rather than argue the point, Redknapp picked a totally different argument and voiced that. Whereas Carragher was making the point that it didn't matter who played in Liverpool's defence, given how they would set up, Redknapp said that Van Dijk would be an improvement on Lovren and Matip. Carragher agreed, and became exasperated that Redknapp was arguing a wildly different point.

It's not the first time that Redknapp has pissed off Carragher live on air.
