Chris Forrester Linked With Move Up The England Football Ladder

Chris Forrester's rise since joining Peterborough from St. Pat's in August of 2015 has been meteoric.

After an impressive first season - one where he made 33 appearances in the league, scoring twice - he was rewarded. First, he was named club captain, made all the more impressive by his youth - he only turned 24 last month. Then he was given a new three-year deal at the League One side.

He was also called up to Martin O'Neill's provisional squad for the friendlies against Switzerland and Slovakia back in March.

Forrester has again been hugely influential for Peterborough this season as they sit just outside the playoff places going into the Bank Holiday Monday games. The Dubliner has scored three times in 23 appearances this season.

In a 3-1 win against Bury back in October, a game which was broadcast live on Sky Sports, Forrester really caught the eye with a superb goal.

The midfielder is now beginning to draw the attention of clubs further up the English football ladder. According to The Mirror, Brentford, Derby and Reading are 'admirers' and Peterborough could 'face a battle' to retain his services.

Joining any of those three clubs would certainly be a good move for Forrester. The latter two would be more interesting, though. Both Derby and Reading are well in contention for promotion to the Premier League and Reading, in particular, are playing some superb football.

A fee for the player is not mentioned. Given that he has just recently signed a long-term deal with the club, Peterborough would be in the driving seat in terms of how much they could ask.

Also, considering that new contract and being club captain, there's a good chance Forrester will remain at London Road through the January window as Peterborough attempt to give him that move up in football he certainly deserves.
