The Merseyside derby was like a throwback to the hard hitting clashes between Liverpool and Everton from yesteryear.

There were red cards, big goals, last minute equalisers, and controversial referee decisions, as the last ever derby at Goodison Park ended 2-2.

Michael Oliver was the man in the middle and wasn't shy when it came to flashing the yellow card, and many Liverpool fans questioned his decision to award Everton a free which lead to their first goal, as replays showed that there was no contact.

Then with the away side winning 2-1 and the clock past the allotted injury time, James Tarkowski smashed home a thunderous strike to make sure that both teams shared the spoils.

Reds defender Conor Bradley was interviewed by LFC TV after the game, and admitted that the draw was tough to take for a number of reasons.

"I don't think they should have got the ball back afterwards but that gave them one more chance. Obviously the referee keeps playing and playing on and they get that chance, and they probably shouldn't get that chance.

"It's really difficult (to take). It was a tough game, it always is tough coming here. It's difficult when you are out there.

"The fans are right on top of you and they are giving you a bit of stick and it's a difficult game to play in, but I thought we did well and dealt with it well."

Bradley was given a yellow card himself, and was substituted soon afterwards as Arne Slot was fearful that the young Tyrone native was going to pick up a second.

"I felt like I had to be careful, especially after getting the yellow card. I don't think I deserved the yellow card but I don't think we should talk about the referee as I'll probably get myself into trouble.

"It was disappointing to get the yellow card and I just had to be good from then on in and make sure I didn't get sent off."

The aftermath of this game, that even saw Liverpool manager Slot receive a red card, will rumble on for the coming weeks, as Arsenal will be hopeful that this signals a drop in form for the league leaders.
