By PJ Browne Updated

Conor Hourihane scored his eighth goal of the season on Sunday afternoon as Aston Villa won the second city derby 2-0 against Birmingham.

Villa already held a 1-0 lead through Albert Adomah's 60th minute goal when Hourihane fire a sensational strike over David Stockdale in the Birmingham goal.

After a Villa free kick was headed towards the edge of the Birmingham box in the 81st minute, Hourihane controlled the ball on his chest, allowed it to bounce and then delighted his manager with the strike.

The derby win puts Villa into second in the Championship, 12 points behind leaders Wolves.
