Every fan has their own story to tell from the World Cup, but a fan from Cork has the most unique story you can think of.

For one Cork Deli owner, he was watching the final in luxury in the VIP section. While he was surrounded by superstars watching a thrilling encounter, what he brought with him was the main story.

Determined to make his own bit of personal history as he watched Messi lift the World Cup, Tom Creedon, who owns Masseytown Rotisserie Deli on Paul Street, brought a special item with him to the stadium.

For Tom Creedon, he ensured there would be a special item from Ireland represented at the final, as he brought a sandwich from his Deli to witness history.

From Cork To Qatar

For most people, to say that you attended the World Cup is incredibly special. However, to also bring an item that you prepared yourself to the other end of the world is pretty special.

Speaking to Cork Beo, Tom, and his sandwich, had an unforgettable journey.

"The sandwich was living its best life, It came everywhere with us.

It was all a bit of craic. I was lucky enough to have a pal who said he'd take me along, VIP and everything, and I said 'I'll bring a sandwich,' just for a bit of fun.

To have the Masseytown sandwich there, as Messi lifted the cup, that historic moment, and up comes the sandwich into the video. Coming up to Christmas, it's great to have a bit of fun with things."

While Messi and Argentina are back home celebrating their success in Qatar, Tom is already back in Cork, providing more sandwiches to customers.

While it's special to hear there was even Ireland fans in Qatar, I don't think anyone expected Irish food to be there.
