Rio Ferdinand became the latest ex-Man United pro to weigh on the Cristiano Ronaldo controversy, after the striker walked out of Old Trafford before full-time against Spurs, before it was later revealed that he had refused to come off the bench as well.

Unsurprisingly, while Ferdinand said that he did not condone the behaviour of his former teammate, he showed sympathy towards Ronaldo and also appeared to be critical of the communication from Erik ten Hag.

"I probably would have been in a queue of people wanting to speak to him about that decision he made and why he did it etc. and ask the question.

And he's in a position where I don't know where I'm at.
