In the late Championship kick-off on Saturday, Preston beat Blackburn 3-2 at Deepdale.

Preston twice took the lead in the game through Daniel Johnson but were pegged back both times by Danny Graham.

With ten minutes left Callum Robinson got the winner for Preston. A key player in the move was Ireland international Greg Cunningham. The 25-year-old - with a bit of skill which could be described as Bale-esque - cut inside Blackburn defender Ben Marshall before playing a pass across the box to Robinson.

If you had not seen Cunningham play recently, one of the most striking things about him is how much he has filled out. He looks like a real athlete. Today's assist was the Galway man's fourth of the season.

The left-back has four caps for Ireland but hasn't played for the Boys in Green since 2013. He was called up to a Martin O'Neill provisional squad earlier this year for the pre-Euro 2016 friendlies against Slovakia and Switzerland.

The thought of Cunningham forming a left-side partnership with Daryl Horgan, who is likely to move to Preston in January, is certainly an exciting thought for Irish fans.

Moments like today should certainly insert Cunningham into Martin O'Neill's plans for next year's World Cup qualifiers.
