Liverpool's Irish connections have been established with the selection of Ireland U-19 international Daniel Cleary. The Dublin teenager has been surprised by the call-up to Liverpool's Far East pre-season tour. Cleary is one of 30 names in the squad lead by new captain Jordan Henderson.

Cleary's inclusion comes after some impressive performances for the Reds in the FA Youth Cup. It'll be a chance for the former Crumlin centre-back to get some gametime on the tour of Thailand, Australia, Malaysia and Finland.

Cleary will be joined on the tour by wantaway star Raheem Sterling, but the likes of Mario Balotelli and Daniel Sturridge will not be joining him.
