David Moyes Moving Closer To The Move We Desperately Want To See

Last week, fans of good old fashioned, you might even say classic, football began to dream. They began to dream of a time when Leeds United are once again relevant and when Elland Road is covered by mainstream media without any mention of bankruptcy or eccentric owners. They began to dream of Moyes.

That may be pushing things a bit but there's a bit of truth to it. If businessman Steve Parkin manages to complete his £30 million takeover of Leeds, the club that challenged for the Champions League not so long ago could finally be about to turn the corner. And Parkin wants Moyes to lead them.

All of that had to be taken with a pinch of salt however. Parkin has come in to the process after a supporter's consortium was edged out by Massimo Cellino when they believed there was an 'agreement in principle' to buy the club. Leeds fans may not be entirely trusting of yet another new benefactor but bringing Moyes in would go some way to showing a sceptical fanbase that he means business.

In that sense, it was entirely possible that all of the talk was just that, something to get the fans excited about a change of ownership before nothing really came of it. However, the Mirror are now reporting that things are taking a step forward.

Moyes is genuinely interested in taking the job after his departure from Real Sociedad, provided he gets the requisite financial backing to make a real go of it. That would presumably mean a hefty transfer outlay from Parkin in what would be the stuff of Football Manager folklore.

Current manager, Steve Evans, may not be doing a bad job of steading the ship but if Moyes is willing and available, Parkin would surely jump at the chance to bring in the former Man United boss. With a takeover thought to be on the verge of completion, it's conceivable that we could see Moyes back in English football sooner rather than later.
