Poor old Birmingham City fans, constantly left wondering what might have been.

Having come to terms with the fact that the club chose Nikola Zigic despite contact from Lewandowski's representatives suggesting to Polish striker wanted to play in England, Birmingham fans now have to deal with the fact that there was a deal in place for the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo, only for the Portuguese to reject them in order to hold out for a move to a club with a bigger stature.

Speaking to Soccer AM, David Sullivan (who was then co-owner of Birmingham City) explained how in the summer of 2003 a young talent from the Sporting Lisbon academy was offered to the club.

Before he went to Man United, we were offered him for £6million, and he chose United ahead of us. There was a deal to be done. When he first went to United there were lots of doubts about him. He wasn’t the star that he is now.

It's crazy to think what might have become of one of the best football talents of all time if he accepted the offer and got to play with Clinton Morrison, I guess he'll have to settle for what has become of his career.
