Darron Gibson has pleaded guilty to drink driving and hitting a cyclist before fleeing the scene. The Ireland midfielder appeared at Trafford magistrates' court today to enter his plea for three separate charges.

Gibson was charged with driving with excess alcohol, driving without due care and attention and failing to stop after an accident had occurred.

After entering his guilty plea, Gibson was banned for driving for twenty months, ordered to pay £5,895 in compensation and will have to complete 200 hours of community service.

According to ITV News, the court heard that Gibson was driving his Nissan Skyline GT-R Nismo when he collided with three cyclists who had stopped on the side of the road to fix a broken chain. One cyclist in particular received a number of injuries as well as having his £4,500 carbon composite bike written off.

Gibson drove away from the scene before pulling into a service station where he collided with a petrol pump. Police were then called after Gibson was seen getting out of the car with no shoes on.
