Dutch footballers, what can you do with them?

As a footballing nation, Holland is known for it's tactical innovation, sublime skill on the ball, and the probability that their players will get into a fight with each other at some stage.

We had heard reports that Robin Van Persie and Memphis Depay got involved in a bust-up that saw the veteran striker benched and the young talent not initially selected for the next squad, but now Dutch website Voetbal International have reportedly spilled the beans on what was said.

It all started on the training pitch, when Memphis apparently rejected the option of passing to an unmarked Van Persie, and instead back-heeled the ball to an overlapping fullback.

Van Persie was angry, and approached Memphis at dinner later that day and asked him:

So, you think you're a big boy?

To which Memphis replied:

Do big boys play for Fenerbache?

Now wonder it all kicked off.

The report also claims that Dutch manager Danny Blind sided with Memphis, asking Van Persie "Are you at it again"? That would offer a reason as to why RVP, the dutch captain at the time, was benched for the next game against Kazakhstan.

Memphis was not initially named in the next squad that was announced, only to be called up later due to injuries, but that is believed to have been down to being dropped by Louis Van Gaal for Manchester United at that time, and not the fight.

The initial feeling after reading that report is that while Memphis did produce a "sick burn" that was good for a chuckle, he should probably look at his own performances for Manchester United so far before slagging off who proven senior players currently play for.
