Hungary have booked their place at Euro 2024, with some heroics from Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai leading the country to the 3-1 victory over Montenegro that booked their place in Germany.

Hungary went into the fixture knowing that a victory would be enough to ensure they qualified for the tournament, although things were rather nervy in Budapest for much of the game.

Montenegro would take the lead in the first half through Slobodan Rubezic, a lead they would take into the final half hour of the contest.

At this point, Hungary would call upon their 23-year old captain to step up and make the difference.

Dominik Szoboszlai would score two goals in two minutes to completely flip the game on its head, with the first of his strikes particularly brilliant.

Adam Nagy would go on to wrap up the victory with a third goal in injury time.

Dominik Szoboszlai makes the most of Hungary Euros qualification

Dominik Szoboszlai has made a strong start to life at Liverpool, but even his impact at Anfield pales in comparison to his influence with Hungary.

Appointed the national team captain at the age of 22, he is the most talented player to emerge from the country in quite some time.

He certainly enjoyed this latest landmark in his international career. After the game, he would make his way into the stands to share a shot of Hungarian spirit palinka in celebration of the team's qualification.

Liverpool supporters will be hoping that he takes things easy over the coming days, with the club set to face Manchester City in a massive Premier League clash on Saturday afternoon.

A victory in that fixture at the Etihad Stadium would be enough to move Jurgen Klopp's side to the top of the table, a resurgence that has largely been powered by the performance of their new look midfield, with the Hungarian at the centre of that.

Dominik Szoboszlai will certainly be coming into the game in good form after this display.
