Half a season into his tenure as Manchester United boss, Erik ten Hag looks to be in a very good position at the club. They have improved quite a bit on the pitch, and while their rebuild is still in a very early stage, he will be pleased with their progress over the last few months.

A number of players who were previously underperforming at Old Trafford now look rejuvenated. Marcus Rashford is the most obvious example, with the likes of Fred, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Luke Shaw, and Diogo Dalot also improving under the new manager.

Couple that with their summer additions and the emergence of Alejandro Garnacho and all of a sudden they look to have a reasonably deep squad. Of course, that has resulted in some players seeing their playing time greatly reduced.

Anthony Elanga is one example, with the winger starting only two Premier League games since early September. It has been suggested that he could leave the club on loan this month, although it appears that he won't end up at Everton.

The Daily Star are reporting that Erik ten Hag has blocked a potential Anthony Elanga move to Everton due to the current atmosphere at the club.

It has been a dire season at Goodison Park up to this point, with the club sitting in the relegation zone. Frank Lampard has also come under increasing pressure in his position, making the managerial situation an uncertain one.

There were some unsavoury scenes outside the stadium last weekend, with their supporters confronting a number of players as the left the ground.

Erik ten Hag is understandably concerned about what impact that could have on Elanga, with Everton in its current state not exactly an ideal environment to allow for player growth.

He could yet move elsewhere this month, but it seems as though he won't be making the short trip to Merseyside.
