After a long few months, Manchester United fans finally had their wishes granted yesterday as their dreadful season was brought to a close. It finished with a whimper, with the 1-0 defeat at Crystal Palace just the latest in a long string of poor results.

One interested viewer at Selhurst Park was Erik ten Hag. The Dutchman has spent the last week or so in England preparing for next season, before travelling to London to get a first look at his players in the flesh.

He hardly would have been too impressed with what he saw from the side, hammering home just how big of a task he has on his hands over the next couple of seasons.

The new manager inevitably received plenty of attention at the game, none more so than from the Sky Sports cameras.

Erik ten Hag has awkward Sky Sports confrontation

Reporter Gary Cotterill attempted to get a word with Erik ten Hag as he left the ground, but neither he or his security team were very accommodating. Cotterill quickly became rather ratty as a result.

Welcome to the Premier League Erik. Are you excited to get started? You must be wanting to get stuck in straight away?

Don't push me, you're on television! It doesn't look good.

It doesn't look good being manhandled by security Erik. Man United are a big club.

Ten Hag is clearly unwilling to speak to the media at this stage, an understandable move as he has yet to be officially unveiled as Manchester United manager. His introductory press conference will take place later today.

There was a common theme among the reactions to the video, with many feeling the work from the security guard on this occasion was the best piece of defending they had seen from a United employee all season.

Ten Hag's unveiling this afternoon should be interesting, with a number of questions around the future of certain players likely to be discussed.

If all else fails in the transfer market, that security guard could make for a decent option at the back.
