According to reports circulating on Monday morning, Evan Ferguson's transfer saga may finally be reaching a conclusion after months of news, speculation and rumours.

The Republic of Ireland striker has been the subject of intense interest from across the UK since revealing his desire to leave his current club Brighton on a loan deal a number of months ago.

While until now there was little more than rumours and suggestive comments linking Ferguson with the move away, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Ferguson is expected to leave the Seagulls on loan in the coming days with 'genuine interest' from several clubs.

Romano has also revealed that interest in Ferguson spans much further than South England, with Ligue 1 and Bundesliga clubs also having made contact with Brighton ahead of a decision being made.

Evan Ferguson set to leave Brighton on loan

While the interest of English clubs has been well reported, it has now emerged that French side Olympique de Marseille are interested in bringing the Meath man to the south of France. According to reports from Sébastien Denis in France they're yet to table an offer but are pushing to sign Ferguson.

They'll face strong competition however from a host of Premier League clubs including Arsenal, West Ham and Fulham all of whom are reported to be interested in Ferguson's services.

Should he stay in England the recent appointment of Graham Potter - who Ferguson has already worked with at Brighton - to the top job at West Ham may give them the edge in any race to lure the Irishman.

However, multiple reports are still linking Ferguson with Arsenal, Bournemouth and Fulham, the first of which are reportedly interested but already have a maximum two players on loan at the club. It is also believed that the interest from Germany isn't to be scoffed at.

Regardless of whether or where he goes, Ferguson looks set to be sidelined until at least next month with an ankle injury that has prevented him from capitalising on injuries in the Brighton squad and earn more game-time this new year.

However, he'll be hoping that a fresh setting away from the Amex will help him put his injury-plagued misfortune behind him and get his career back on track over the coming months.
