With one year of FIFA's newly added Create A Club feature under our belt, we've decided to look forward to FIFA 23's release in two months time. We've put together 6 Irish football-oriented Create A Club ideas for you to get stuck into upon the new game's release in September! From rags to riches, to the absolutely outlandish, we've got you covered when it comes to coming up with ideas for your new career mode saves!

Ireland FC

Why not look to kill two birds with one stone with our first idea! Create a club with the strict transfer policy of signing only Irish players. With some great young Irish talent emerging in recent years, there are a plethora of high potential Irish youngsters to choose from and build your squad around! We would recommend creating your club in league two in England. From there, you can develop your players through the leagues until you reach the pinnacle of English football. However, this is where the strict transfer policy of signing only Irish players will add spice to the challenge. Whilst you have been developing a team capable of winning the Premier League, you have also boosted the overall ability of the Irish national team. By biding your time and performing well in game, you will inevitably receive an offer to take on the Ireland job, and from here you can lead the very same group of players you signed back in League 2, to world cup glory! Win win!

Red Bull Athlone

Recommended

The Red Bull football empire stretches across the globe, with Leipzig and Salzburg being their two European domains, so why not expand their reach to somewhere even more flamboyant and high profile... Athlone! A career mode based in Athlone under the Red Bull license could offer a fun and different experience to your career mode. Being a product of Red Bull’s huge wealth, it would only be right to arm yourself with a huge transfer budget to begin building yourself a squad capable of competing in Europe. There is also the added element of what division the team would play in. Do you take over and rebrand Athlone Town FC, or do you become their new noisy neighbor? Do you take the League of Ireland by storm and immediately set yourself up as the biggest football institution in the league. Or, do you go down the Swansea and Cardiff City route and set yourself up in the lower leagues of English football and slowly work your way up until you conquer the Premier League and eventually, Europe. The possibilities are endless with the massive backing and financial power the Red Bull license would give you,

The Dublin Dons

In 1996, believe it or not, this very team nearly did become a reality. Before AFC Wimbledon’s relocation to Milton Keynes, for a period of time, Dublin looked to be the front runner to become the new home of The Dons! Why not create “The Dublin Dons” and play out what could’ve been in an alternate reality. There were even plans in place to build a 50,000-seater stadium in Clondalkin, so there are plenty of real-world elements to incorporate into your career mode save in order to give it that authentic feeling. The prospect of having a major Premier League club with world-class talent stationed in Dublin offers players the opportunity to build a fun and unique footballing dynasty in the capital.

St James Gate FC

While they don’t compete in the first tier of Irish football, St James Gate were the very first team to win the competition back in the 1922/23 season. With the recent and disappointing news that the club have been forced to fold and close their doors after 120 years of history, what better redemption story could there be than bringing The Gate back to their glory days through the medium of FIFA. For an extra challenge, why not add the stipulation that just like back in the day, all the players have to be from Dublin. Now that's a transfer policy you don't see every day. As they are not included in the base version of the game, using the create a club feature offers players the perfect opportunity to bring this once great club back to the top of Irish football and eventually journey on to eclipse their previous success with that of your own.

Provincial Teams –Munster/Leinster/Connacht/Ulster

While having the provinces competing is a normal thing in rugby, creating a club based on only signing players from the counties within their province could offer you a really difficult challenge. By adding a club based on your province to the League of Ireland, you can sign the very best players your province has to offer. With some additional research into what players you could sign, you can create a really unique and unconventional club model. Here we have a list of the best player from every county to get you started on your squad building. Some brilliant players in Leinster, Connacht is a bit more challenging.

Anim FC

This one is a little more unconventional... The game has over 50 players who have “Mc” and “O’” in their names, so why not build on this and create a club based purely on Irish names! Anim FC could be placed in any league in the world, but will always be Irish at heart due to the players on it’s books. By simply typing “Mc” or “O’” into the transfer search section of your career mode, you will be met with an abundance of players who qualify to be signed by your club. While you will have your familiar faces such as David McGoldrick and Dara O’Shea, you're sure to unearth a few gems, with many young players sharing the “Mc” and “O’” mantle. Regardless of what players you choose to sign, it’s set to be an undoubtedly challenging and different career mode experience from anything you’ve ever tried before.
