Celtic beat Motherwell 2-0 at the weekend, the goals coming from two of Brendan Rodgers's summer acquisitions - Scott Sinclair and Moussa Dembele.

The game continued Celtic's unbeaten start to the Scottish Premiership season. Victory came for Celtic despite what one young fan felt would be a major absence - himself.

Ahead of the game five-year-old Louis Kayes, who lives just outside of Glasgow, rang Celtic to inform them that he would be unable to attend the weekend's game. Louis felt he needed to apologise as he thought captain Scott Brown and Brendan Rodgers would be aware of his absence.

Louis was unable to attend as he was going to a friend's birthday party.

His mother told the Daily Record about what happened.

I saw Louis with my phone and then I heard the recorded message you get when you phone Celtic. He had the phone on the loud speaker function. Before I knew it I heard him telling the club that he wouldn’t be at the match because he had to go to his friend’s birthday party. I said: ‘What are you doing? You’ll be costing me a fortune.’ But he just said he was letting Celtic know the reason why he wouldn’t be at the match.

I had just spent a while explaining to him that because of the birthday party he wouldn’t be able to go. He wasn’t happy about it and I think he was just wanting to explain to Celtic the reason for his absence. Even when we were driving to the party he let it be known that Scott Brown would notice he wasn’t there. Then he said he was worried that Brendan Rodgers would notice too.
