Having been released by Spartak Moscow in the summer, former Netherlands international Demy de Zeeuw is on the look-out for a new club.
Instead of going the traditional route and having your agent spread your name around to potential employers, or in the case of any player who has played for Harry Redknapp before, joining up with Harry Redknapp again, de Zeeuw has decided to try a more unusual method of finding work as a footballer, by posting on social networking site LinkedIn.
Anyone who is familiar with the site will know that de Zeeuw will most likely just be bombarded with updates on how well all his friends and annoying people he went to school with are doing, but the publicity from taking such a unique step will no doubt offer some welcome publicity to a player who played in a World Cup semi-final back in 2010.
At 31 years of age, de Zeeuw clearly feels he has more to offer, as can be seen in his detailed description of his previous achievements:
He's willing to travel, he's got the credentials, surely it's only a matter of time before he gets the offer he wants. Fair play to him, it's a bold step putting himself out there and maybe a few more players should follow suit.
In the meantime we wish him all the best in sifting through the thousands of random invitations to connect he will no doubt receive.
