UPDATE: French Girl 'Urgently' Looking For Irish Fan She Met At Euro 2016 Isn't French

Euro 2016 is a tournament which will live long in the memory for Irish fans.

As Charlie Bird's Republic Of Telly feature lampooned during the week, some might never get over it.

Those fans also left a lasting, majorly-positive impression of the Irish people - whether it be through the picking up of litter, general horseplay or a spot of impromptu panel-beating.

One of the French people who has not forgotten the antics of Irish fans is a French girl named Rita. On the You Boys In Green forum today, she posted looking for help finding one Irish fan in particular named Cormac.

The title of the post suggests that Rita needs to make contact with Cormac 'urgently'.

My name is Rita, I live in Lyon, France and I was hoping to have some help from the You Boys in Green supporters club in finding an Irish football fan called Cormac who I met here during the Euros this year.

I don't have any more information other than his first name and where we met, but I'm trying to contact him about an important matter.

If you think you know Cormac or have any ideas about how I might contact him I'd be very grateful if you could email me via the following email address: [email protected]

Some further information on where and when we met:

Where: Lyon, France. La Place du Change (a square in the Old Town where Irish fans gathered together on Saturday and Sunday evening during the Euros).

When: Early in the morning (around 1 am) on the 27th June 2016 the night after the game France - Ireland.

We met while the crowd was singing "Don't take me home", which they continued to sing for at least 10 minutes. He had lost his friends.

If this message reaches Cormac, he needn't worry, I just need to touch base with him about something.

Here's that rendition of 'Don't Take Me Home' from that night in Lyon.

UPDATE SUNDAY 30/10 18:37: Some important news has reached us via the YBIG tonight for all potential Cormac's. Rita has clarified her identity to the YBIG moderators, stating she is not French, but rather a resident of France. The update follows as such:

CLARIFICATION: Rita is NOT French, although she lives in France.
She does not want to say what country she is from as it could be something that only the person she is looking for knows.
She did tell us that her team played on that night in the Euros (June 26).
The matches that day were France v Ireland; Hungary v Belgium; Germany v Slovakia

If your name is Cormac and you met a Hungarian, Belgian, German, Slovakian (or even an Irish woman) that night in Lyon, this news will be of interest. If anything, this update widens the pool of trouble for possible Cormacs out there.

In other news Eddie Barron on Twitter has passed on this inspired Cormac-inspired Halloween costume.
