Chances are you may be hearing quite a bit about this over the coming days but here's what we have for now. On Wednesday evening, Roy Keane was involved in an incident which resulted in Gardaí being called to the Irish team hotel following an altercation with a male fan.

According to the Irish Times, Gardaí confirmed that an incident had occurred but that no criminal complaint had been made at the time of writing.

The first reports detailed allegations of a 'well known member' of the Irish set-up being asked for an autograph before an altercation occurred following an object being thrown.

In a statement the FAI later confirmed that Roy Keane was the the team member in question. It has been alleged that Keane was involved in an exchange with a man who had asked him to sign his book. According to the FAI, an incident occurred which led to Keane himself, calling the Gardaí.

Unsurprisingly, the Scottish press are quite happy to see this, with the Daily Record really going to town on things.
