Ghana have sent home Kevin Prince Boateng and Sulley Muntari from the World Cup.

Former Sunderland player Muntari allegedly slapped a member of the Ghana Management Committee during a heated argument while ex-Spurs midfielder Boatang apparently is rumoured to have clashed with coach Kwesi Appiah during training.

Muntari is set to miss the Black Cats’ crucial encounter with Portugal tonight after picking up two yellow cards in as many matches. However, if  the reports are true, he won’t play any further part in their World Cup campaign regardless of whether the African side progresses or not.

Boateng had already been left out of their starting line-up for his country’s World Cup opener against USA.

A statement from the Ghana football association said: “The GFA has suspended Sulley Ali Muntari indefinitely from the Black Stars with immediate effect."

The decision was taken in the wake of his unprovoked physical attack on an executive committee member of the GFA and a management member of the Black Stars, Mr Moses Armah on Tuesday 24th June, 2014 during a meeting.

The GFA has approved coach Kwesi Appiah’s decision to suspend Kevin-Prince Boateng indefinitely from the Black Stars.

The decision was taken following Boateng’s vulgar verbal insults targeted at coach Kwesi Appiah during the team’s training session in Maceio this week. Boateng has since showed no remorse for his actions which has resulted in the decision.

These suspensions add to a calamitous World Cup campaign by the Black Stars who opened the tournament denying accusations that they had been involved in match fixing for friendlies they were due to play later in the year.
