As the Glazers Out movement continues to intensify at Old Trafford, it would appear that some at Manchester United are attempting to divert attention away from the protests against the club's owners.

The protests against the Glazer family were particularly vociferous on Monday night ahead of the Premier League clash with Liverpool, with a march to the ground by protesting fans followed by relentless "Glazers Out" chants within the stadium during the match.

United would go on to win the game 2-1 after a brilliant performance, and the joy around Old Trafford somewhat took the sting off the protests in the immediate aftermath of the game.

They have been brought back into focus by a bizarre video on the Manchester United Twitter account. The audio appears to have been edited in the video, to remove the sound of fans chanting "Glazers Out".

Glazers Out chants edited out of Manchester United Twitter video

The Glazer family have owned Manchester United for 17 years now. The American moguls were unpopular at the time of the takeover, and have only become more so in the past few years.

With pressure mounting on the owners, especially after shocking opening defeats to Brighton and Brentford, the board moved quickly to reinforce the squad. Ahead of the Liverpool game, they completed the signing of Brazilian midfielder Casemiro from Real Madrid, and the five-times Champions League winner was unveiled at Old Trafford ahead of Monday's match.

The issue with the video above is that it appears to have removed the original audio from the ground.

Several fans replied to the Manchester United account's video, pointing out that the mood in the crowd was altogether different than what was portrayed on the club's social media.

Though fans applauded Casemiro as he entered the pitch, the stadium was rife with chants of "We want Glazers Out, we want Glazers Out" - as shown by this video from the stands.

The fans' "Glazers Out" chants were even picked up by the Sky Sports coverage of the incident, proving that the fans' videos had not been altered in any way.

It is a rather bizarre choice from the Manchester United social team, and one that is sure to only further alienate the disillusioned parts of the fanbase.

Casemiro's signing is the latest attempt to shore up United's midfield issues. Though they were excellent on Monday, the makeshift Liverpool midfield did not pose any real threat to the centre of United's team, where most of their issues have been for the past few seasons.

Erik Ten Hag needed a win on Monday - he certainly seemed thrilled with it when he appeared on Sky post-match - and fans will hope to have something to cheer for on the pitch, as they continue to push to get the Glazers out of the club after 17 years of ownership.
