A junior football team from Donegal are reportedly in big trouble for some questionable late night antics on the island of Arranmore more last weekend.

Inishowen League Premier Division side Greencastle made the journey by boat to the island last Saturday to play Arranmore United in the FAI Junior Cup. Greencastle won the game 6-0, but according to the Inish Times, the team's behaviour after the match left residents on the island enraged.

Damage was done in the hostel they were staying in, a handbrake was let off a car and it rolled down a hill into two more, and a goat was allegedly ridden like a horse in a nearby field.

The island is home to around 500 residents, with Arranmore United playing weekly in the Donegal Junior League. Although both teams are from Donegal, they are part of separate leagues.

Speaking to the Inish Times, Greencastle chairman Paddy Hannon, said the team would investigate the alleged incidents later this week.

There's players working away who won't be back until the weekend, so we would like to try and find out exactly what happened before saying anything more.

An unnamed club source also told the local newspaper that the players were "ashamed of themselves" and that it was "a big wake-up call for all the young people in Inishowen".

Nobody was killed - though obviously the incident with the goat shouldn't have happened.

Despite winning the game 6-0, the club may face repercussions according to the Inishowen League secretary Diarmuid O'Brien.

If the teams are to face each other in the near future, it may be a day trip that's in store for Greencastle's players.
