The LA Times published an article yesterday featuring some amusing words from an Irish point of view about Robbie Keane's well-known goal celebration.

LA Galaxy fans love seeing Robbie's cartwheel and forward roll, mainly because it means they're going to win. In the 16 Galaxy wins featuring Keane this season he has scored 14 time. Those 14 goals have been followed by "14 awkward cartwheels and 14 ungainly forward rolls" according to writer Kevin Baxter. He also compares Keane to for US Olympic gymnast Mary Lou Retton.

David Beckham is completely in awe of Keane's tumble, openly admitting that he is not man enough to attempt the dangerous manoeuvre himself.

I always worry that he's going to hurt himself because I wouldn't attempt it. But he's used to doing it. He's practiced it quite a few times over his career. As long as he's scoring goals, I don't care.

However, LA Galaxy coach Bruce Arena believes that Keane's celebration has lost it's edge over the years.

"When he was younger there was a lot more elevation. It was almost a flip in the air. This is a tumble on the ground so there's less chance of injury at this point in his life.

The cartwheel and tumble are probably no longer of the same high, high quality but he is certainly finishing the move with more conviction these days.

Just look at the way he thrusts that hand forward. It's pure Hollywood.
