Holland Lose: The Gambling Ramifications

The first shock of Euro 2012 has just gone down. Really worrying signs for anyone who back Holland as an alternative to Spain or Germany. Robben looked jaded, Van Bommel is ancient. Holland had no cutting edge in the penalty box and it's hard to know if Huntelaar and Van Persie can co-exist. Denmark's win will have some pretty serious ramifications on the Euro 2012 gambling market. Anybody who backed Russia to go to the last week of the tournament is sitting especially pretty right now.

The ramifications:

Holland are now 12/5 to make it out of the group. That makes them now the biggest outsider in the group.

Denmark have shot up to evens to make it out of the group.

Portugal are now on evens as well, and are looking really tasty for anyone who thinks they can beat Denmark.

Group B is now second-favourite to be the group with most goals. Anyone expecting a goalfest between Germany and Portugal might get on this market now.

As for likely Group A winner Russia, they are 6/4 to reach the semifinals. They're down to 4/1 (from around 12's earlier in the week) to reach the Final and 12/1 to win the whole thing. Holland meanwhile are 15/1 to win the tournament and 8/5 to reach the semis. It looks like a great lay if you thing the Dutch are done.
