A season-ending injury for Chelsea's Callum Hudson-Adoi last night is believed to have convinced Bayern Munich to bring an end to their prolonged quest to sign the English teenager.

According to the Telegraph, the German champions are now prepared to begin looking elsewhere as they attempt to bolster their squad ahead of next season.

The Londoners, however, are believed to be quite keen on getting the 18-year-old winger to sign a new contract which could earn him as much as €100,000-a-week.

Maurizio Sarri started the youngster in last night's clash with Burnley at Stamford Bridge, though the English star only lasted 40 minutes before being substituted with a ruptured Achilles tendon.

The club released an update on the injury today:

Callum is seeing a specialist this afternoon and is expected to undergo surgery on his ruptured Achilles tendon this evening.

Hudson-Odoi had previously turned down an opportunity to sign a new contract as a result of his lack of playing time, and with his contract up this summer, it was believed he was on his way to Bavaria in the coming weeks.

This can only be viewed as very positive news for the London club, with Eden Hazard highly expected to move to Real Madrid over the coming months.

It is hoped the local star will be capable of filling the void left by the Belgian next season, if reports turn out to be accurate. While Hudson-Odoi has yet to score in the Premier League, he has managed four goals in the Europa League, helping Sarri's side reach the semi-finals of the competition.

The European competition remains the only competition Chelsea are still vying for silverware in, though they are submerged in a titanic tussle for a spot in the league's top-four.
