Borussia Dortmund's Champions League quarter-final first leg with Monaco was postponed earlier after three explosions damaged Dortmund's team bus, injuring Marc Bartra.

Thankfully, the Spanish defender's injuries were later deemed to be "superficial," with reports that broken glass from at least one of the blasts had cut his hands.

The incident, however, remains shrouded in mystery, and there's literally no point in hypothesising as to the cause of the incident until we receive official word from the relevant officials in the German city.

What we do know is that, Bartra's minor injury aside, everyone else was unharmed. The Dortmund players, however, remain in a state of shock.

Their Swiss goalkeeper Roman Bürki has broken the players' silence on the incident in a brief chat with Andreas Böni, Head of Football at Swiss publication BLICK. The 26-year-old elaborated on what was naturally a terrifying situation for the players on the bus, giving a rather disturbing insight into their experience as the explosions went off around them:

The bus turned to the main road when there was a huge boom - a proper explosion. I sat in the back row next to Marc Bartra, who was hit by shards of the broken back window.

After the bang, we all ducked in the bus and anybody who could, got on the ground. We did not know if more happened. The police were quick on the spot, it was diffused. We are all shocked, no one thought at a football match in the minutes after.

Dortmund's first leg tie with Monaco has been moved to 5:45pm Irish time tomorrow night.
