Despite Two Qualifier Wins, Ireland Drop In Latest FIFA Rankings

Since the FIFA rankings were updated last month Ireland have won two games.

Those were both World Cup qualifiers. The 1-0 win against Georgia in Dublin and the 3-1 victory against Moldova in Chisinau.

Despite those wins, Ireland have dropped places in the latest FIFA rankings which were updated today. On September 15th, Ireland were ranked 31st. We're now down to 33rd.

Iran are the big climbers, last month in 37th - six places behind Ireland - they are up to 27th. Senegal jump seven places to 32nd after being eight places in Ireland's taillights five weeks ago.

Ireland are now above Northern Ireland in the rankings. After beating San Marino 4-0 and losing 2-0 to Germany, Michael O'Neill's team drop six places to 36th.

Things remain unchanged at the top. Argentina still rank first but Germany are now into second and Brazil are third.

Wales drop out of the top 10 to 11th while England are 12th. Scotland are way down in 57th.
