Ireland vs Scotland... it finished 3-0 at full-time, but felt more like five after the week and a half of sheer depression and disappointment that has surrounded Stephen Kenny and his Irish side.

People were out blood, both Kenny's and new blood to be introduced into the starting XI. They got the latter in the form of Michael Obafemi who not only started but chipped in with a world class assist for his strike partner Troy Parrott, and a world class 25-yard screamer for Ireland's third goal.

Jayson Molumby and Alan Browne both came back into the side and also added a positive influence, while Jason Knight continued his on his role from the Ukraine match as Ireland's 'danger man'. The game could not have been much sweeter, both results wise and narrative wise.

Obafemi showed after the match that he is not just a showman on the pitch, but one off it as well, with a brilliant post-match interview.

Obviously happy to be here, in front of the fans, the home fans, and happy to announce myself", said the Swansea ace, before giving his take on his assist for Parrot. "We spoke about it before the game, mine and Troy's link up play. Obviously we saw it today with the second goal, and we're just happy that we got the win as well.

"I looked up and I saw the darting run, and thought 'somebody put it right on his noggin' and it was there, it was brilliant."

On his second half screamer.

"Obviously Troy played me the ball, I just opened up and I was just like 'hit it'. I feel like sometimes I don't take enough shots and today I thought let me give it a go and thankfully it went in.

He is without a doubt a character, and when asked was it the goal of his career, he replied 'one of them', before ending the interview by pointing to the man-of-the-match trophy and asking 'is this mine.'

Unfortunately he was forced off with in an injury shortly after his goal, but thankfully reassured fans that it was just a 'niggle'.

Another huge week for Irish international football lies ahead, with the U21s vying for automatic qualification to the European Championships against Italy on Tuesday, while the senior lads go again against Ukraine on the same day.
