Liverpool football club have announced new contract offers for U23s duo George Johnston and Conor Masterson, while Emre Can and Jon Flanagan will leave once their contract expires.

Masterson was called into the first team squad earlier this year for Liverpool's tie against Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals. The former Lucan United man is a former captain of the Liverpool U18s and now playing with the Under-23s.

Speaking after that Champions League game, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp praised Masterson's attitude:

Conor is a good boy, he plays in our Under-23s and was captain of the Under-18s, and is very confident. I’m not sure if that’s typical for Ireland but when I said to him that he will be in the squad, he said: ‘I’m ready man'.

Liverpool confirmed today their full retained list following the end of season, with Emre Can, who joined the Reds from Bayer Leverkusen in 2014, set to depart this summer along with academy graduate Jon Flanagan.
