A late goal robbed Liverpool of what would have been a slight advantage after an organised and professional performance in Villarreal, as Adrian Lopez pounced in stoppage time to put the hosts 1-0 up going into the second leg.
The goal came from a sublime ball from Bruno over the top of Kolo Toure, and this was the focus of Klopp's post-match press conference as he struggled to grasp how it happened.
Alberto Moreno was singled out for his positioning, but Klopp was eager to stress that everyone involved was looking to the return leg at Anfield.
The tie is certainly not beyond Liverpool, but as they failed to score an away goal they will need to be extremely solid at the back in the return leg, something that will be difficult considering they now need to get a goal.
