Chelsea officially secured the Premier League title last Friday as they won a cagey affair away to West Brom, but really it was done and dusted after Tottenham suffered a loss at West Ham seven days earlier.

A London derby with so much on the line was always going to be extremely competitive, but it appears as though the West Ham players had an added incentive to win the game thanks to Chelsea club captain John Terry.

Speaking to West Ham's sponsors Betway for Betway Insider, Hammers' defender James Collins revealed that Terry had text both himself and Mark Noble claiming that if they won the match, they would be rewarded with a night out paid for by the Chelsea boys.

John Terry text me and Mark Noble saying, ‘If you boys beat Tottenham there’s a dinner or a night out on the Chelsea boys,’ so that was nice.

But we wanted to beat Tottenham anyway. We’re lucky we did in the end looking at the result we got after that [a 4-0 loss against Liverpool].

It was a massive result, it put us safe and obviously to beat our closest rivals at home was massive.

We can only imagine the night out will be massive as well.

Of course, the Newcastle players invited Aston Villa's Jack Grealish out on the lash after he scored the goal that ended up handing the title to the Toon, although Grealish was seemingly not asked to do that before the match.

Also, having recently learned about just how much pain Mark Noble was playing though in order to take part in the Spurs game, where he had one of his best performances of the season, you can't help but wonder how much of that was the desire to see John Terry out of pocket.

We jest, as one thing that cannot be denied is Noble's incredible desire to play for West Ham. Still, it's interesting to know that Terry called in a favour for that match, now we'll see if the night out comes to fruition.
