Ireland internationals Will Keane and James McClean both scored for Wigan as they beat Fleetwood Town 2-0 in League One on Tuesday night.

Keane converted a penalty in the 37th minute for this 17th goal of the season. Five minutes later, McClean added a second - his eighth goal this season - with a low strike from the edge of the box.

Deep into injury time at the end of the game, McClean was shown a red card, along with Fleetwood's Joe Garner, following an altercation between the pair in the Wigan box. McClean was deeply frustrated with the decision. It certainly appeared that Garner had been the aggressor.

Wigan manager Leam Richardson told Wigan Today the clash was between two players "who each have that will to win and that fight in them".

"It looked like a bit of a clash, a bit of handbags, but if the referee's seen something, they should know better," said Richardson.

"But without seeing it, though, I can't really comment too much.
