Sometimes James McClean gets a bad reputation for various things throughout his life, so its important to be fair and mention all of the good things he does.

Because there is a lot of them. There are so few sportspeople in the world that give back to their local community to the same magnitude as James McClean, and I feel that should be recognised.

Unfortunately, it's another tragic reason for McClean's charitable donations - another child in Derry who passed away too young. Derry teenager Ryan Higgins died suddenly on Thursday, with a fund set up in his memory to support his grieving family. The charity page, which is aiming for £2,000, received a big donation of half its goal from a James McClean

We would like to extend our condolences to the Higgins family through this tough time, and would like to encourage anyone who may wish to do so to contribute to the fund.

You can do so on the gofundme page.
