As James McClean walked from the pitch in the 65th minute of West Brom's 2-1 loss to Liverpool, the sock on his lower left leg was clearly bloodied.

The injury appears to have happened at some point during the first half, but it's not clear exactly when.

Hours after the game, McClean posted to Instagram showing the extent of the injury. He had suffered a nasty gash to his leg.

McClean did not limp from the pitch as he was substituted but according to Matt Wilson, West Brom reporter for the Express And Star, he did limp to the team bus after the game and had his leg strapped up.

McClean also seemed asked - by captioning the post 'If it was vice versa' - what would have been the outcome, punishment and reaction-wise, had he been the one inflicting the injury rather than the victim.
