Sunday's meeting between Liverpool and Manchester City is the biggest Premier League fixture we have seen in quite some time.

The division has only had a genuine title race in one of the five seasons prior to this one, although the last game between Liverpool and City during that 2018/19 campaign came in January.

As a result, there will be massive attention placed on this fixture at a relatively late stage in the campaign. A win for Jurgen Klopp's side would put them two points ahead of their rivals. However, a defeat would leave them four points behind with only seven games to play.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Jamie Carragher said a defeat for Liverpool could well be a fatal blow to their title hopes.

I think it will be more so (a title decider) if City win. I don't think it would be if Liverpool won. I just think four points, with eight or nine games to go, is a big lead when these two teams notoriously just win games week after week.

There is still a way to go no doubt, but if City were to win they would almost have to throw it away. I think a four point lead would be a decent lead for either of these teams right now...

If City get a four point lead, that would be huge. With Liverpool supporters and people in the camp nobody would raise the white flag, of course they wouldn't. There are plenty of points to play for, but it would feel like an uphill task.

If Liverpool were to go two points clear, I think it would be more the psychological impact. Two points could be gotten back pretty quickly, but psychologically to go from the position they were in in January where everybody was giving them the title, it would be a massive blow.

Liverpool have put together an incredible run to get themselves back in the title picture, winning each of their last ten league fixtures. However, a victory for City on this occasion would surely give then an almost unassailable lead heading into the final weeks of the season.

Ruben Dias is set to miss the game due to injury, while Liverpool look set to have a full squad to choose from. That leaves Klopp with a big decision to make up front, where he has five genuine options for three positions.

Mo Salah is a arguably in the worst form of that bunch at the moment, although Carragher thinks there is no way the Egyptian will be left out of this game.

Midfield is always a vital area but I think [Ruben] Dias being out is a big blow for Man City, he's a fantastic player. He's their closest player to van Dijk in some way, the real leader at the back so he will be a big miss.

Liverpool have the firepower, from the bench and in the starting front three....

I think there are a lot more questions with Liverpool, certainly with the front three. I think Jurgen Klopp could do anything and you would probably agree with it. It feels like there are so many permutations now with everybody in the front five, or the front four are in form except for Mo Salah. But he's your number one guy.

I don't see Mo Salah not starting the game. Diaz was fantastic on the left, Mane got a goal against Benfica, Firmino was fantastic last week and he's fresh, Jota just seems to score every time he's on the pitch.

I'm really intrigued to see what front three Jurgen Klopp picks, I think that's the big question for everybody.

It will certainly be a hugely interesting clash at The Etihad on Sunday afternoon.
