Man City have been charged by the Premier League over numerous financial breaches from 2009-2018, after a four year investigation.

The charges are linked with revenue information, UEFA regulations, and co-operation with the investigations from the Premier League.

Man City are expected to defend themselves against the charges, but if found guilty they could be in line for a points deduction.

Jamie Carragher, who has spoken out before on the excessive spending of Man City over the last decade, rubbed salt into the wounds of the club by tweeting sarcastically about their relatively small fan base:

"This can’t be right, Man City bring in more commercial revenue than Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Man Utd & Liverpool 🤷‍♂️"
