We weren't kidding. Javier Zanetti, the much-loved fullback-cum-midfielder announced this week that he will called time on his 22-year professional career at the end of the current season.

It seems as though his hairstyle was as consistent as his performances down the years for the Nerrazzuri and Argentina.

An unglamorous but hardworking operator, the 40-year-old has been at Inter since 1995 and earned 145 caps for Argentina between 1994 aqnd 2011. He earned the wonderful nickname of El Tractor for his tireless exploits along the right flank. Very much a Latin Denis Irwin, we may not have always noticed his excellence. but we'll miss him now he's gone.

Speaking of the similarity between Zanetti and Irwin, Denis didn't make too many changes in the haircut department, either.
