In an interview with the BBC's Ben Smith, John Delaney stated that the FAI will vote against Sepp Blatter in the upcoming FIFA presidential election.
Delaney could certainly have been talking about himself when he outlined his reasons for voting against the incumbent President. There's a real lack of self-awareness when he criticises Blatter for bringing down the "brand image" of FIFA.
Regardless of the good he claims to have done during his tenure, he has to recognise that Fifa has an incredibly bad brand image. We won't be voting for him.
If he was doing the right thing by football, which he says he cares and loves, then he should step aside and let somebody else come forward and improve the image of the world game.
UEFA and his "good friend" Michel Platini however, he loves them. You can talk to UEFA. John can sit in the UEFA kitchen with Michel and have a good natter about the game.

The man who has been FAI chief executive for 10 years says that Blatter has had "a hell of a run at it". And again, there's a deficit of cognisance regarding his own situation when he expresses a belief that the 'football public want change' in relation to FIFA.
Blatter has had a hell of a run at it. But surely he knows, in his private moments, he must know, that outside of the voting chambers, that the world, the football public, the players and supporters, want change.
I have no problems telling anybody, telling the world now, that we will not be voting for Sepp Blatter.
There is a permanent controversy at Fifa.
