John Giles Wants You, Mark Noble

John Giles thinks that West Ham midfielder Mark Noble would start for Ireland if he chose to declare for Martin O'Neill's side. Noble is apparently interested, though how much interested is questionable, especially after an appearance on Goals on Sunday at the Weekend where he appeared cagey on the matter.

Here's what Giles had to say, via the Indo:

I would take Noble tomorrow, as he would improve our team. He's a good Premier League player, and we don't have many good Premier League players. I think he would get into the team straight away.

The RTE analyst also spoke about James McCarthy, questioning his mentality.

He has the ability, and I've seen him in matches in good positions, but he doesn't demand it. You have to demand the ball. He has to impose himself more than I've seen him do up to now.

Some lads are natural at demanding the ball. Wes Hoolahan has that attribute, in fairness to him.

Also quoted in the Irish Examiner, Giles added:

With McCarthy, I don’t think he says anything and he lets you kick it up the line. The game is passing him by. He has the ability, as I have seen him knock the ball 40 yards. But it’s not good if you don’t let your team-mate know you’re there — and I haven’t seen him do that yet.

Former Irish U21 international Liam George called the Mark Noble sage "a disgrace" earlier this week.
